- A Salute to the Centennial Births of Bledsoe and Robeson
Ronald H. High, tenor, and Steven Allen, piano, will present a Recital of
Negro spirituals in celebration of the centennial births of Jules Bledsoe
and Paul Robeson, The Original Voices of Ol' Man River.
Repertoire for the program includes arrangements by Hall Johnson,
H. T. Burleigh, Phillip McIntyre, Wendell Whalum, and others.

Paul Robeson Day in Houston
Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown issued an
official proclamation declaring April 9, 1998
as "Paul Robeson Day" in Houston. Councilmember Annise Parker paid
tribute to the man on the eve of the Centenary.
