The World Is My Home
Performed by Stogie Kenyatta at the Eventide Arts Festival
Stogie Kenyatta brings a unique interpretation to the life and times
of Paul Robeson; in which he majestically captures the essence of the
man. In his captivating one hour performance he portrays ten
characters and chronologically takes us through the life of history's
first Black renaissance man.
Opening as Robeson's father, a 15 year-old runaway slave, who rode the
underground railroad to freedom. Kenyatta's vision is as entertaining
as it is educational. He uses poetry, satire, music, comdey and
brilliant storytelling to give us a comprehensive view into the
scholar, actor, singer, athlete and political activist that was
Robeson.
A powerful, poignant and touching love story in which we follow him to
four continents with the love of his life, wife Eslanda. Stogie
Kenyatta's skillful portrayal exposes the romantic charm, the wit as
well as the human frailities of a life full of triumphant achievement
and the tragedy of hopes unfulfilled.
It is an unforgetable tribute and a history lesson you won't want to miss.
