Catalyst Dance and Drama Company, a Black group in Liverpool, are planning a week of tributes to Paul Robeson, on the occassion of the 100th anniversary of his birthday later this year.

Vetrarbreytin (in English: The Milky Way)
In weekly cultural radioprogramme, brought on national radio Útvarp Føroya AM and FM every Monday night GMT hrs 19-20, I will pay a tribute to Paul Robeson in two April programmes. The programme is in the Faroese language, which is an old Norse language, with same roots as Danish, Norwegian; Swedish and Icelandic. Only 50.000 speak the Faroese language and Útvarp Føroya is the only operator in the area, known as The Faroe Islands or just The Faroes. My programme is called "Vetrarbreytin" which means The Milky Way. The programme is running during the winter season (sept-may). Last year the Nordic Counsil of Ministers (Nordisk Råd) woted Vetrarbreytin the programme as the best cultural product in all of the Nordic countries (23 million people) and recieved the Nordbok Price.

A two to two and a half day conference plus exhibition on the life and work of Robeson. Talks and reminiscences will focus mainly on Robeson's political involvements and activities. Speakers include scholars like Hakim Adi, Stephen Bourne Lloyd Brown, Sean Creighton and Marika Sherwood. But we are also to be graced by the reminiscences of many who knew and worked with Paul Robeson in Britain in the arts and in political campaigns such as Bill Alexander, Martha Edwards, Andrew Faulds, Bill Owen and George Shepperson. There is an extensive exhibition on Robeson in Britain, a screening of rare footage film footage and the playing of recordings of speeches, performances and concerts.
