The Faculty of Fine Arts, York University, in conjunction with the Paul Robeson Centennial Committee, presents "Paul Robeson Week":

April 9: The Emperor Jones
At 7:30pm on April 9, the day marking the centennial of Robeson's birth, there will be a special screening and symposium, Burton Auditorium. Join the discussion on Robeson's life and career in film and on stage. The panel will discuss his 1936 appearance in the film version of the now controversial play, Showboat.

In the Spirit of Oneness - A Tribute to Paul Robeson
A night of choral music and singing, readings and recitals in various languages at Convocation Hall, University of Toronto - 8:00pm. Performers representing the vast diversity of Toronto will perform some of Robeson's Spirituals and other music he loved. Join: Eagle Heart Drummers, Faith Nolan, The Chinese Children Choir, Markham Village Voices Choir (featuring the Robeson-like voice of Peter Silvera), Heritage Voices Choir, Markham Youth Choir, Julie Ellis, Ignacio De Pinedo (Afro-Cuban Percussion), Djanet Sears, Markham Philharmonic Society Orchestra, and other recitals.
