• "Advanced Information Technology, Low-Income Communities, and the City" The Department of Urban Studies and Planning in the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will conduct a 12-week colloquium during the spring of 1996 on "Advanced Information Technology, Low-Income Communities, and the City". The colloquium will bring together a group of distinguished social scientists, planning practitioners, and technologists, as well as representatives of low-income communities in the Boston area.
• American Civil Liberties Union The ACLU is the nation's foremost advocate of individual rights -- litigating, legislating and educating the public on a broad array of issues affecting individual freedom in the United States.
• Benton Communications Policy Project Promotes public interest values and noncommercial services for the NII through research, policy analysis, print, video, and online publishing, and outreach to nonprofits and foundations.
• The Center for Democracy and Technology Develops and advocates public policies that advance constitutional civil liberties and democratic values in new computer and communications technologies. (Viewed by some as heavily influenced by its corporate sponsors.)
• Computer Professionals for Social Reponsibility CPSR is a non-profit, public interest organization concerned with the effects of computers on society.
